Frequently Asked Questions

The app shows no data — what do I do?

Race Readout fetches live data from the public OpenF1 API. Make sure you have an active internet connection when using the app. If the API is temporarily unavailable, try again in a few minutes.

How do I view timing or telemetry?

From the home screen, tap Timing or Telemetry.
Use the picker menus to cascade through: Season → Event → Session.
For Telemetry, continue selecting Driver → Run → Lap.
Charts and analysis will load automatically once your selections are complete.

Which sessions are available?

Any session recorded in the OpenF1 database is available — this includes practice, qualifying, sprint, and race sessions from 2023 onwards.

No. Race Readout has no accounts, no sign-in, and no registration. Just open the app and go.

Is the app free?

Yes, every feature is free. There is an optional in-app tip if you’d like to support development — it unlocks nothing, it’s just a thank-you.

What data does the app show in Timing?

The Timing section loads a complete session and shows:

Full session results with lap times
Lap-time chart across the entire session
Sector time breakdown per driver
Pace comparison between drivers
Pit stop timing and strategy
Race progression (position over laps)
Stint analysis by tyre compound

What data does the app show in Telemetry?

The Telemetry section lets you pick a specific lap and shows:

Speed, throttle, brake, gear, RPM, and DRS traces
Derived channels: longitudinal g-force, lateral g-force, and corner curvature
Track path reconstructed in an inertial frame from positional data
Side-by-side lap or run comparisons
